Our Team
KC Pink Warriors consists of female cancer survivors and thrivers who have chosen to engage in a healthy (and fun!) activity. The team is committed to supporting each other and the local cancer community while promoting the sport of dragon boat paddling and racing. Why dragon boating? Learn more here.
Our Beginnings
KC Pink Warriors is the first full time dragon boat team in Missouri and Kansas. The team was championed by Michelle Steger. Michelle was determined to start a dragon boat team in Kansas City after her positive experience racing with Pink Dragon Ladies, of Tampa and Warriors on Water, of Orlando. What began as “curbside paddlers” in a local gym progressed to paddling on the water in a much loved loaner boat and in the spring of 2020 we christened our VERY OWN DRAGON BOAT - KC RISE! The team has gone on to participate in several dragon boat festivals and has earned many a medal along the way!
Our Practices
We train on the beautiful Wyandotte County Lake during the Spring, Summer and early Fall months and off the water during the cold Midwestern Winters. Our team is committed to building strength and endurance that will serve our paddlers on AND off the water.
